We currently offer two different wood species: Maple, and Alder.

  • Maple is a hardwood with an even grain. It has a bright overall appearance. Admittedly, it feels nicer than Alder, and is more durable if you're going to be keeping a prayer card in your pocket.
  • Alder is a softwood with a coarser grain. It is mid-tone and engraves deeper with higher coloration. It can feel fairly 'light' and may easily dent or scratch.

Our icons are finished on the front with a catalyzed lacquer, leaving a high-quality semi-gloss finish.

Our cards are finished with a beeswax-orange oil blend. This is a natural finish that brings out the natural beauty of the wood. You can replenish the finish with a cutting board wax or similar.

Our medium and large icons feature a cove edge around the perimeter. Our small icons do not. All icons feature a keyhole on the backside to facilitate hanging.
